Dessalines S.T.E.A.M Academy is a Montessori-inspired microschool with strong cultural and community values. STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—is at the heart of our approach, where students learn through inquiry and hands-on exploration driven by their innate curiosity about the world around them.
We proudly serve homeschooling families seeking high-quality programs to fulfill Math and Science requirements for grades 6-12. Families can enroll their children in our full STEM program, joining us 2-3 days a week to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics through problem-based and inquiry-based learning.
Full-time students engage in our full immersive STEM program alongside Humanities, Music, Financial Literacy, Language, and African Studies.

Dessalines S.T.E.A.M Academy proudly takes its name from Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the Haitian revolutionary who, against all odds, led Haiti to become the first Black republic to successfully fight off slavery and gain independence. His leadership not only liberated his people but also shattered the oppressive systems that sought to hold them back. We chose his name because his legacy of resilience, courage, and unyielding determination mirrors the values we strive to instill in our students. Like Dessalines, who forged a path to freedom, we are committed to empowering communities through knowledge, independence, and opportunity in STEAM fields. By honoring his revolutionary spirit, we aim to inspire our students to overcome challenges and achieve their own personal and academic liberation, all while fostering a deep love for community, leadership, and innovation.
