We are a proud Member of the National Microschooling Center. Providing the best education with a personalized approach.
Dessalines S.T.E.A.M Academy is a homeschool cooperative that functions as a STEAM-centered microschool with a strong focus on family and community values. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, and our microschool embraces an inquiry-based and project-based learning approach to these subjects. We expose students to a wide variety of STEAM disciplines, including hands-on experiences in STEAM fields.

Dessalines S.T.E.A.M Academy proudly takes its name from Jean-Jacques Dessalines, the Haitian revolutionary who, against all odds, led Haiti to become the first Black republic to successfully fight off slavery and gain independence. His leadership not only liberated his people but also shattered the oppressive systems that sought to hold them back. We chose his name because his legacy of resilience, courage, and unyielding determination mirrors the values we strive to instill in our students. Like Dessalines, who forged a path to freedom, we are committed to empowering marginalized communities through knowledge, independence, and opportunity in STEAM fields. By honoring his revolutionary spirit, we aim to inspire our students to overcome challenges and achieve their own personal and academic liberation, all while fostering a deep love for community, leadership, and innovation.
